Some talks presented by Bob Podd "How Much it Costs Not to Change!"
Getting Software Out on Time ... for a Change! ABSTRACT: This is a workshop where the attendees get to do some work. They are presented with tools and then break out into small groups to estimate the numbers for specific problem areas at their own companies. This talk presents a simple, 'back of the envelope' calculation that will allow a software manager or engineer to estimate the financial hit their company takes by just doing things the same old way as it applies to: shipping a product late, adding features during the maintenance phase, abandoning projects, and others. Additionally, we will explore how discounted cash flow analysis provides the real dollar and cents numbers to track projects at attendees companies. KEY OVERRIDING MESSAGE: Many organizations have no real idea how badly they invest their time and money when producing software products. However, once a poor Return on Investment is calculated, it becomes a potent weapon to affect change within an organization. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
